About Me

I’m Zach DeBoer—an artist, educator, and longtime community advocate. I live in the All Saints neighborhood with my wife, Molly, and our seven-year-old daughter, Lucy. Like many families, we care deeply about safe streets, strong neighborhoods, and a city that works for the people who call it home.

For years, I’ve worked alongside neighbors, schools, and community groups to make our streets safer, strengthen neighborhood connections, and create places people are proud to call home. My work has always been hands-on, practical, and rooted in listening to the people who live here. I’m running for City Council because I believe Sioux Falls is at its best when we invest in people, neighborhoods, and in the places we love.

On the City Council, I’ll bring a people-first approach focused on:

Stronger Neighborhoods, Safer Streets

Our neighborhoods thrive when we invest in them. I’ll work to strengthen neighborhood associations, improve street safety, and calm speeding traffic—creating people-focused places where families feel safe, connected, and proud to call home.

Fiscally Responsible, Smarter Growth

Our focus shouldn’t be on chasing shiny, new mega-projects. We need to invest in proven ideas that strengthen what we already have like maintaining our current infrastructure, revitalizing underutilized spaces, and managing our growth responsibly so taxpayers aren’t left paying the price later.

Transparent, Community-Driven Leadership

I’ll make sure the community is heard and involved in decisions that affect them, with honest, transparent communication and real public input. I’ll bring creative ideas and a clear vision to the council—without ties to PACs or special interests. I’m not a rubber stamp, and I’m not afraid to ask hard questions, push back when needed, and fight for what’s right for our residents.
